Neil says hi by the way...

I went to see Neil Gaiman again last night at the Forbidden Planet signing, and lo! It was good. It is always odd going to one of these events on my own though... I tend to get all tongue-tied and starstruck if there is no-one else there to distract me and calm me down. Which explains the following exchange when I got to the front of the queue:
Then I met my friend Naomi, and took her home and fed her things, and let her get an early night because she had to get a stupidly early flight from Heathrow in the morning. Hello Nomi! Look, you're famous! *waves*
*handing Neil a book to sign, temporarily speechless*
Neil (reading off a Post-It): Mehran?
Me: Yes, that's me.
Neil: *signs the book*
Me: Um. It's. Um. Nice to see you again.
Neil: A pleasure to see you. Thanks so much for coming.
Me: *wanders off with glazed eyes*
A few seconds later I'm standing taking pictures with my camera phone next to the girl who went up just before me, who is doing the same with her camera. I turn to her and babble: "You know, it's funny. I've seen him about four or five times now and every single time - for some reason - I get absolutely starstruck. Look! *touches cheek* I'm blushing."
At which point the female steward guarding the way just in front of us turns around and says "Aw bless!" And the girl I was talking to says: "Actually, it's my first time." Rather than do the polite thing and say something (like mayhaps "How was it for you?") I am still slightly awestruck and wander away. Well, scurry away quickly actually.
