Adventures in BabysittingWork

Psst! Posting this on the sly from my new place of employment… it’s my second day and I’m not sure where the boundaries are. Plus, you know, open plan office. So the bad news is that I’m not allowed to install Firefox at work… yes, I did ask on my first day, of course I did. Yah boo sucks to the Man… IE is just evil, plus if I had Firefox I could synchronize all my bookmarks. Bah humbuggery.

The good news is that everything else seems great. Nice building, nice offices, nice loos (well, they are!) and the people are ok too. So far anyway… first impressions, I haven’t settled in properly yet. But I’ll keep you all posted.

I hope this one is better than the last anyway. If you remember, my last job (at the publishing company) ended in tears and flames as the entire UK branch of operations was shot down.

More to come from your roving raving reporter, I’m sure…

Adventures In Babysitting. Now there was a superb film, one which I realise is inexcusably absent from my DVD collection!

Hehe the internet usually crosses many boundaries. But what they don't know won't kill them. The key is finding out just how closely your computers are monitored by the IT department.

I hate open plan offices. My boss is all about that. I'm the only one in the office though that doesn't have a computer facing everyone else so I have some semblance of privacy.

Anyway, glad you're happy to start out, at least. Can only go up from here! Or sideways. But whatever.

nice loos (well, they are!)

Do not be dissing nice loos! We moved in Sept 2005 to a lovely (as in completely refurbished) new building. I have a window seat which overlooks our rather lovely suburban garden (so I get to watch the wildlife - foex, squirrels and a variety of feathered critters) all year round. Not to mention so much greenery - and we get to hang out there in summer and have lunch and coffee breaks al fresco.

However....the ladies loos? Clean and sparkly and a frickin freezing as the North Pole. Seriously. You go in there in winter and you come out with a frost bitten bum. *g*

Glad to hear the new job looks good *g*
