"Why my weekend was great" by [info]i_kender aged 29 and 11/12ths...

My weekend was really great. I hung out at home on Friday and watched The Devil Wore Prada. It made me laugh a lot. Then on Saturday I met [personal profile] buddleia at a train station and we went to Hove. It took a very very very very long time to get there. I had to take: 2 trains, 1 tube (this is the underground), 1 coach, 1 bus and then walking. It was very hot. Luckily we were not too grumpy when we got there. There was a big party in a hotel, and they had a buffet with sausage rolls and chicken legs and quiche and little bites of savoury things, it was really really nice and yummy. There were lots of people we did not know, and some people we did know, like  [profile] betelbruckeand her girlfiend, and their friends C and E, and a few people who I sort of kind of recognised from Selena's funeral, and of course Selena's Mum and Dad (oh oh I forgot to say earlier, this was a big family birthday party for Selena's Dad. His name is Walter and he is 80 which is really really old. He is a little crooked but not too much. And he is very tall, and he has lots of hair growing out of his ears and nose. But that is ok because he is very smart, and a Nice Man.)

So there was also cake and apple pie and small childrens and champagne and speeches and lots and lots of dancing and a Ceileidh band who forced you to dance whether you wanted to or not (which was a little annoying if I am being completely honest and I was told I had to be honest when I wrote in here so there) but  [personal profile] buddleiaand I only danced for the first song because we figured that people would leave us alone after that and stop asking and they did so that was really clever of us (pats self on head) BUT even only one dance made us really hot and bothered, and I was drinking wine as well, so I got a little fed up with how hot it was, and it was in a small room that was stifling and close, and very loud with the music and children and the grown-ups who were a little bit tipsy as well, and when I was fed up enough I said to  [personal profile] buddleia"Can we go now?" and she said "Yes" which was a relief so we ran away and walked down to the beach and we held hands and walked slowly to Brighton and it was really HOT with the sun and everything and then up to the train station and then some more travelling to get to London which took a long time but not as long as it took us to get there which was good (even though we did have to go to Littlehampton first which I thought was really silly and pointless) and then we slept.

Sunday was more chilled out... we just wandered around Hammersmith for a bit, where I accidentally bought a few T-shirts (Primark, rahr!) and then we met up with Bananaspanna (that may not be her real name) and we drank a bit, and sat in the shade on the grass by the river, and chatted for ages. It was great. We finished off with curry at a Vegetarian Indian restaurant which was good, and cheap, and stuffed us full.

Right, have some links *flings them at you* -

Why the new Spiderman is a crybaby: here

You're rude, crude, and in my face... and I've had enough: Teenagers who play music on buses and why they get away with it. A subject dear to my heart... read the comments, there are some interesting perspectives there, especially comparing public behaviour in China. (Hey [profile] nightxade, I wonder if this is yet another (bad) example of the New "I-Am-Special" Generation?)

And I would like you to have this song: Thea Gilmore - Contessa (Sendspace)
