Pain in the
Jul. 23rd, 2008 10:13 amSo I totally ditched work yesterday – call it a mental health day - I just couldn’t face another day stuck staring at the monitor with no work to do!
Instead I stayed home, tidied my room, watched 3 films, and played Crackdown on the X-Box. It was a much more productive use of my day.
I’m starting to get the idea that this job is not for me… anyone know of any jobs in London I could apply for in the £24-28k range? Or, even better, does anyone have any suggestions for a possible career move for me? Doing other people’s admin is less sexy and glamorous – wait, it was never sexy and glamorous. My bad.
My excuse, in case anyone wants to use it, was mysterious and unexplained back pain – “I don’t know why, but my back was just killing me!”
Oh, and today looks like it’s going to follow the normal pattern – woot. I guess I should spend the day looking for job opportunities rather than reading The Guardian, huh? I just wish I had a better idea of what I wanted to do – rather than “anything but this”!

Date: 2008-07-23 01:54 pm (UTC)Other people's admin does indeed suck, especially when you ould almost certinly be a better manager than them. Would it be worth looking for companies whose areas of work interest you, within which you could usefully work up?

Date: 2008-07-23 11:12 pm (UTC)I did find that simply changing the office worked. I had the same problem that I wanted to do 'anything else' but I ended up doing admin again but the office was a lot better and I had rapport with people who worked there. Then that job shut down and I ended up in the corporate black hole currently sucking away my life force.
Good luck on the job hunting.
