From today's Metro:

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Doctor Who usually appear on students’ T-shirts, but at one university they will soon be on the curriculum. The adventures of classic cult TV heroes, who have stood the test of time, are going to be taught as an MA course at Brunel University, West London. Students who take the course may learn to ‘Shut It!’ like the heroes of cult police series The Sweeney and they will find out why shows such as The Prisoner and The Sweeney were so popular. Course director Xavier Mendik said: ‘Cult is anything that is seen as quirky, independent and off-centre. It is TV shows and films that were not mainstream but have survived the test of time and have a large following.’ Students will get the chance to meet cult filmmakers and industry practitioners to get a better understanding of the genre.”

I was lucky enough at lunch to catch the otters’ feeding time. They bark and yelp with excitement, and then all come bounding over to the keeper. She has a large bag of dead mice. With their bright and eager eyes following her, she tosses them mice in an egalitarian fashion. It is simple to do this because once a pup has its mouse it settles down, and starts gnawing, lying full out on its wet furslick stomach. So the keeper can pick out the unlucky pups and toss them a mouse too.

The otters are ridiculously cute. But then so are the mice.
