Jan. 19th, 2007 12:00 pmYesterday we had huge storms with gale force winds of up to 100 mph across the UK. It was pretty bad. I was made aware of this before I got out of bed, having been woken by water dripping from the ceiling right next to my face. Still, I gamely got up and bullied Ham out of bed to get him to the airport on time. Ham is my best friend from back home who has been staying with me for the last couple of weeks. Great to see him again, and we had loads of fun from going to a metal club to just chilling out at home watching TV and playing X-Box (finally completing Halo 2). He introduced me to a new show (groan, not another one!) Prison Break - which I highly recommend as a well-acted character-driven prison drama with finger-chewing cliffhangers.
So I understand there's some big bother over Big Brother? I used to be a fan, but have stopped watching in recent years. While I think the whole question of racism is questionable, there is undeniably very nasty targeted bullying going on which is unforgivable. If there's one thing I cannot stand it's any form of bullying. Bullies are the lowest form of pond scum who want power at the expense of others. They should all be given the 1984 treatment in Room 101.
In Cambodia a woman has been found after living feral for almost 20 years. It's an amazing story. Meanwhile the Chinese have responded to America's recent foreign policy by quietly developing their own Death Star - well, you know, almost. Actually the ability to take out satellites, which will mean the Presidential Laundry Service will be busy scrubbing out GWB's underwear for weeks.
In Real Life news, I'm so broke. I shall mostly be spending my time exploring the thrilling unknown corners of my house. Expect tense reports of newly-discovered intelligent spider colonies. Also, still job-hunting, and waiting to hear about an interview I had earlier this week. Keep them crossed.
More news from Squalid the Pong coming up. Today's broadcast is sponsored by the colour Blue and the letter Argh.
