The other night [personal profile] buddleiaand I were heading home on the train late at night when I started noticing all these young girls in tiny skirts and high heels piling through the train in loud droves. Hang on, I thought to myself, it’s not New Years Eve and it’s not a weekend night – what gives? And then we overheard some of them talking and realised that the entire terrifying horde had just come out of a Spice Girls concert.  Scary Baby Spices. Shiver.
Last night I had a great story dream, which I’ll try and describe. I’ll have to do some editing, I’m afraid, as I started out being the star of the dream and then later on it segued (in that way that dreams do) into a rather nifty Supernatural/Veronica Mars crossover fic.
Sam and Dean were investigating a rather terrifying pair of demons escaped from Hell. In their natural forms, they were identical twins: a pair of horns each, red eyes, scaly brown-green skin like a lizard, claws and sharp teeth. But they had some powers that made them even more formidable – mastery of illusions. First they could make themselves look like anyone. Secondly they could make anyone look like anyone else. Worse, the Winchester brothers were woefully unprepared. They didn’t know what kind of demons they were, or how to defeat them.
So the story takes place in a college where many gruesome deaths have recently occurred… yep, you guessed it, it’s Hurst College. The brothers go in disguised as students to find out what happened, and at some kind of social event – hell, lets say it was a college dance, why not – they come to the realisation that “Whatever killed those kids is still here, Sammy… and it’s disguised as one of them!” “You mean like masquerading?” “Whatever.”
Wandering around the dance talking to people, they make friends with a girl called Veronica Mars who’s also investigating the murders. Gradually the three of them work out what’s going on, after seeing the twin demons (lets call them TweedleDumb and TweedleDumber) in their (super) natural forms.
There follows some manic chase scenes until the Dynamic Threesome work out that you can see the demons in their natural forms in mirrors or reflections. So they’re all wandering around with compact mirrors and big guns trying to find the demons (who are meantime killing again) while having to hide their guns whenever other students wander by.
And, naturally, both the brothers have the hots for Veronica, big time. So much so that they’re getting into arguments about who saw her first. And Veronica is more or less “Please, boys, get over it. We have work to do.”
Eventually they’re all trapped into a room with other students – say, a big dance hall/gym. And this is when the demons reveal their second illusion power that I’ve already mentioned – changing the appearance of other people. So you have the demons disguised as various people, you have a very confused Sam, Dean and Veronica who look nothing like themselves (until they speak – oh, the hilarity of Veronica speaking with Dean’s voice!) and at one point the three of them are about to attack one of the demons when it speaks out with Sam’s voice. They all freeze, looking at each other with guns drawn and very carefully looking around for a mirror… because if the demon they’ve just been chasing is actually Sam, that means that one of them (with their jumbled up faces etc that we’ve just gotten used to) could actually be one of the demons!
And that’s about it really… no ending, sorry. But there’s some vague recollection that possibly Buffy and some of the Scooby Gang were maybe involved as well, possibly when they were all at college too? Well, it was so vague I didn’t even try writing them in.
If anyone wants to steal the idea and run with it, let me know. I’m not going to write it.
I do love story dreams though :)
