Oscar Nominations 2008
Jan. 22nd, 2008 03:01 pmApologies to
theferret for nicking his formatting, and thanks for the scoop:
Although I'm shocked to realise that I haven't seen any of the films nominated for major awards (yet - give me a week) I must say it's another poor year. I haven't been so unenthused about the Oscars since.... oh, last year. Not going to bother watching it live this year... I remember when the ceremonies themselves were lots of fun, full of sketches, clips, daft songs, and hysterically pointed jokes: "These are all Jack Palace's children"... but I've been getting more and mored bored in recent years, both by the quality of the films nominated (yawn) and more importantly by the show itself.
Bring back Billy Crystal! Or Whoopi Goldberg. Or bring in somebody fun to host it. Like Trey Parker and Matt Stone (South Park, Team America: World Police) or Seth Green and Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, American Dad, Robot Chicken) or Joss Whedon and Guillermo Del Toro... or, I don't know, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez?
Bah.
Ps. The friend whose single I recommended recently? It's at No. 18 on the BBC Radio Indie Chart - see? I know a good thing when I hear it :)
