Horrible things are happening in my office... they just fired the Editor, and the Co-Editions department is being closed down. I think that means that two other people I work closely with are gone. And probably their manager when he finds out what's been going on.

I don't know if my section is going to be shut down yet - my colleague/acting boss is still in a meeting with the managers.

But I have a bad feeling. If they're ditching full-time staff with such abandon, I can't really see them keeping me on.

I'll know more this afternoon.

Bizarrely, the one small advantage of short-term staff like you is, they often keep them on board til the end, just to keep the lights on, because they don't have to worry about any kind of severance payment or other implications from getting rid of them.

Still, sounds like a good idea to spend their resources looking for another job.

Agreed. And, interesting point, it's certainly true that I'm cheap and instantly disposable.
