I love Publishing.

Another office party last night: someone is leaving and someone else is getting married. The two things are not connected as far as I know ;) We went to the Heights Bar on top of the Saint Georges Hotel at the top end of Regent Street (ie north of Oxford Street) which is a far classier place than I. But the company was paying. Yay! The best thing about the bar is it's fairly quiet (swanky hotel bar but nobody really knows it's there except occasional 'meeeeeeed-jyah' people wandering in from the BBC building next door) and the astonishing views - a wide panaroma of the city landscape seen through the enormous windows on both sides of the 15th floor bar/restaurant means you can see quite far out to both east and west. It's quietly hypnotic.

I had a *terrible* headache all afternoon and at the start of the night. I really thought I'd have to go home which is an unhappy thought. I am all about the PARTY PARTY and like to be the last one standing (or, you know, crawling along the curb blearily trying to find the Underground). I took handfuls of painkillers (which didn't shift it) and Sudafed (once I worked out it was probably sinus pain). When all of *that* didn't work I turned to drink. I drank glass after glass of white wine like there were people trying to take it away from me (which might explain the fearful looks thrown my way by the bar staff).

Don't worry, I acquitted myself with considerable aplomb - don't I always? Sadly one of my colleagues didn't fare so well and ended up with her head down the toilet for the last hour or so. This, dear Reader, is the hazard of going out drinking straight after work without having dinner... particularly if it's going to be *all night* and drinking bottles of wine that keep magically replenishing themselves. Hmm... come to think of it  "bottles of wine that magically replenish themselves" is very close to my idea of Heaven... needs more Dancing Girls though. And possibly an elephant. (Not like that, you sick puppy - I heard you snicker!)

So a fun night if slightly alcoholic! Nothing like staggering into work drunk after six hours sleep. Although I might sing a different tune once the alcohol wears off.

Oh, and I'm still looking for another job because my one is shaky!
