Well, after Reuters sent a reporter in there full time (well maybe not quite, bodily fuctions etc...), the Guardian have done the same: Tim Adams reports from virtuality. There's even comparisons with Neal Stephenson's awesome book Snow Crash, which is what virtual worlds and avatars always remind me of.
But with less kick-ass fight scenes, presumably, and no giant rogue Aleuts with Poor Impulse Control tattoed on his forehead, armed with deadly molecule-thin glass knives and a nuclear warhead in his motorbike sidecar... (It's a great book - do read)
