Last weekend I was invited to a speshul dinner party for speshul dinner people and so I had to go along even though it was in Leeds. It was hugely enjoyable and a vast success owing in no small part to the fearsome skillz of our lovely hostess Not-On-LJ-Although-She-Should-Be-Nomi. So thank you, dear, that was great. Dinner was tomatoes, followed by tomatoes, followed by something that contained lots of tomatoes, followed by dessert. Which was (thankfully) gorgeously delicious chocolate brownies. We were provided with random Dutch people to play with and discovered that dutch cheese has holes in it so that allergy sufferers can breathe while they stuff their cakeholes. Also the lovely
apple_crumble's manwife (tm) made an amusing quip when he discovered that one of the Dutch people didn't like lamb ("It's because they gambol, isn't it? Ohh no, we can't abide gambollers...") SNORT... which was funny even after having to explain it to the Dutch. Then
apple_crumble lied to us all by pretending that his thesis had to do with disproving the theory of wormholes and the Tardis. And then (while drinking enough to kill several small Russian children weaned on potato-spirits... I speak for myself of course!) we played games including Carcasson and Gloom - both immense fun.
Then I died a death and random fearsome monkeys threw shit-pebbles at my head and stomped all over my skull and buried stinking dead things in my mouth. Then I woke up and had to go home, but not before more game-playing (yay!) and a wander down to Leeds to buy deep-fried cheese in breadcrumbs (Mmmm fried things with cheese!).
