i_kenderHello Tribbles! I watched the long-awaited latest episode of Heroes (Ep 1.19 - 0.07%) and it was brilliant and well worth the wait. Although buddleiaand Wil Wheaton seem to agree that it's perhaps "borrowing inspiration" from better source material i.e. Watchmen. Which must make life very hard for the people behind the proposed Watchmen movie (yes yes, I know you've heard it all before but this time it may actually be happening. Whether this is a good or bad thing remains to be seen).
Here, check out the official Heroes website if you haven't before. Recommended for the online comic (fills in occasional bacstory) and the amusing blogs (like Hiro's). Alsobuddleiasent me this Heroes-related site which is amusing. Register your vote! (actually, don't... but it's still amusing)
I thought the story that the US military had to backtrack and allow the Wiccan Pentacle to appear on the graves of dead servicemen and women was A Very Good Thing and they are morons for listening to their Commander-in-Briefs in the first place. But then, according to this article, he is not only intent on building a Fascist Dictatorship in America but is already taking the Ten Steps required to do so.
But that's ok! DON'T PANIC! Scientists have discovered a second Earth 20 light years away! Or at least, the closest to an Earth-like planet yet discovered, Gliese 581C. This greatly increases the chances that We Are Not Alone as the planet seems likely to have the conditions necessary for sustaining life e.g. water and an atmosphere. Seems to, anyway, according to the article. ("And if we fuck up this one, we can always run away to that one" is the other implication... personally I like m planet, thanks.)
What else have I got for you kittens? Oh yes, here is a bizarre story about a man who cut off his own penis in a busy restaurant in Central London... incidentally, if you get a chance Zizzi's (on The Strand) is a lovely place to go for a meal. Just avoid their self-mutilation nights, clearly.

You know it's mildly annoying that the same kind of mindset which allows the economy to collapse, global warming to become apocalyptic, the gap between rich and poor to become worse, etc, etc is the same mindset which will end up going all mob mentality and scapegoating all the folks that tried to argue against things going bad in the first place.
