Spintrian's Day Out

Rob's birthday was good. I met him and Anna at Patisserie Valerie on Old Compton Street, which is a lovely little cafe. I resisted the urge for cake because I don't deserve nice things. Vicky turned up two minutes after me, and we showered Rob with presents and cake and tea. We then proceeded to lower the tone until we moved on for dinner at a nearby Italian. Where we darkened their walls with the scorching comments. At least we didn't discuss anal sex this time. Although the ubiquitous rubber harness did get a mention. Come to think of it, is it a sign of age or just (mental) decline that we spent an hour talking about various illnesses and ailments? Dinner was ok, though I wasn't terribly impressed with the service. (side note: Anna asked me to smile for a photo she was taking. Me: "I'm trying!" ) And then Anna ran away. Vicky, Rob and I tromped around for ages to find the Trash Palace; which Rob mentioned, and I summoned the address from the uncovered sewer of my subconscious. (Beware, the are gators there too. Big albino ones. With banjos.) Don't know why I knew that
We found it, and I was delighted. Very Popstarz-esque, with trashy punk sensibilities thrown in. I liked the mirrored tunnel that leads to the toilets, and the fact that the area just outside the toilets is spotlit so you can see people as they stumble out. Punk catwalk! Vicky and I had a jaw-drop moment when a really Hot Young Thing walked past. It's nice to have a lesbian to share these things with! Although it can cause catfights later. Mreowrrr! The music is great, much better downstairs though. Upstairs is very cool too, a hepcat red room with lounging space. Very fin de siecle Parisian brothel/cafe. Nice. Although apparently (according to
spintrian) based on the Red Room at the end of Twin Peaks. Which is, you know, a little freaky deaky... Many beers later, we were talking about (let's see) mostly sex and boys. Although some sex with girls too. And Selena too, and the past. And, what else? The suitability of various men in Rob's life, and sex, and relationships. Love, that perennial; and the future. All manner of heady things. And beer, of course. Lovely blurry laugh out loud!! Getting home was interesting too.
And today, as sometimes happens when I've been drinking the night before, I have a massive surge of energy and optimism and hope, and my spirits soar. So everybody gets a car!
