Jun. 29th, 2007 10:00 amDamn! I didn't remember that today was Wrong Trousers Day (inspired by Wallace & Grommit - wearing really "wrong" trousers to raise money for children's charities and hospitals) otherwise I would have whipped up some thing really awful! oh well :)
Scary news about the car bomb found in the middle of Piccadilly Circus. Oi! Stop trying to blow up my city. It's... inconvenient.
Although it did make me think... if you were a terrorist (hi, Paranoid Government Types Reading My Blog! *waves*) what landmarks and public places in London would *you* target? Hmm, off the top of my head... for maximum impact both psychological and physical/actual... Piccadilly Circus - check. Oxford Street (maybe Selfridges?). Harrods. (Jeez, these terrorists are going to have nowhere decent to shop!) Westminster, of course. Big Ben. St Paul's. The London Eye. The Dome. Heathrow. Eurostar. One of the big rail stations (if I had to pick one? King's Cross). Ummm... that would do it, I think. Would cause quite a lot of chaos, disruption, death, and damage... oh, what the hell, maybe one of the bridges as well. Let's say London Bridge, for the symbolic value.
Caveat: if anyone is in any doubt? I do not in any way condone terrorist activity, or any form of violent extremism... likewise, I do not mean to mock or belittle the victims of terrorist activities... which is, let's face it, all of us.
I do *worry* about this poor little beleagured world of ours... *sigh*
