And for all budding writers and those who are interested in the vagaries of the publishing world (verdandiweavesI'm looking at you!) there is this article on how 18 publishers failed to spot that they were rejecting the classic novels of Jane Austen. It sorts of makes you think that maybe something is broken, no?

Just find a publisher that has freepost, and send them a copy of your manuscript every month! Honestly, luck is such a ridiculously huge part of it... I sometimes despair (as a reader, if nothing else).

I don't think a publisher who had freepost would last very long in business. :) Some to accept MS by email - and actually once you're on the 'worth considering' list you generally do submit like this. But it's far too easy for masterpieces to be deleted. :)
