I just got a call from my sister and my mother seems to have broken her neck.

She's fine... she was up and walking straight after.... but she has to be persuaded not to move too much. Also she has to have an operation urgently to fix her neck in place. The worrying thing is it's the top two vertebrae which are particularly vulnerable - brain stem and nerves and all that - so i can't help but fret.

She sounds ok though... my mother is remarkably matter-of-fact about these things.

... She related to my father my any chance?

And I'm assuming she's in hospital now where they're keeping her from doing any more of that, walking around stuff, until they've immobilised the vertebrea?

Did your sister by any chance break this one to you with a 'So, by the way, mum broke her neck?'

Because I bet that did really great things to your blood pressure.

Meep! I *told* her to stop those damned rodeo evenings.

*sends love and hugs*

Exactly. And competitive fire-juggling limbo events are NEVER good. Believe me, this I learned in high school.

Blimey dude. That is pretty harsh but also quite impressive that she's that ok after it.

*hug* I'm sure she'll be fine

how the hell does one get up and walk around after breaking ones neck.....

that said, i'm sure *my* mother would, too.

*keeping my fingers and toes crossed for healing*

Whoa! That's intense. Glad she's ok and perky. Wishing all the best for the operation.
