Watched Cloverfield over the weekend – aces fillum, loved the creature. Lots of yelling at the dumb people in the film though, because they deserved it! Prompted this discussion:

Buddleia: You know, if I’m trapped in a collapsed building and you have to risk your life to rescue me? Don’t bother. Just let me die.

Me: Oh no, of course I would. I’m not saying it makes sense, but I would totally get myself killed trying to rescue you… *shrugs* sorry. I just would.

Buddleia: Really? *fixes me with a beady eye* Huh. I so wouldn’t. Um.

Romance? not so much dead as trapped in a collapsed building with giant monsters marching straight towards it.

Don't worry, I was fine... and bless you all for dragging me around with you. My own fault for not being more organised, but it all worked out in the end, and I had a BRILLIANT day :)

don't worry - i'd try to save you - which has nothing to do wtih romance - of course, I would probably get myself wedged crawling into small spaces which doesn't make me an ideal rescuer but I'd have a go... or I'd form chains of people to remove rubble .... or... chains of monsters to remove rubble - depending on how the negotiations went... and if they didn't eat me... would they ahve big teeth, these monsters?

Yes. I, too, am an idiot who would try to save someone and end up dying horribly.

In one of those nasty gruesome death scenes that makes the entire audience wince and yell out "god no!".
