She was one of my closest friends. She died today. Well, 16 years ago today.

She had the most raucous laugh I've ever heard in my life. I still remember the weight of her hand on my left arm. Now, she sleeps under a rowan tree.

I still miss her, but I also envy her at times. After all, she gets to be 28 forever, and she now knows all the secrets and mysteries she ever wanted to know.

I can't believe it's been 16 years. I never met Selena, but there were so many pathways back to her through various friendship groups it seems almost impossible that I wouldn't have eventually, if there had been an eventually. I'm as sorry for your loss now as I was then, M.
