It's a dog's life, Charlie Brown
Mar. 22nd, 2005 10:48 pmGood grief! Through a bizarre set of circumstances, I will be working for the rest of the week at my current place, and that's it. Really. I mean it this time.
After the begging and tears on Friday, my agency followed up with flattery on Monday, and then bargaining and bribery on Monday and Tuesday. Seems the manager was so desperate to keep me on (and praising me to the high heavens) that he was willing to negotiate to keep me. This included offering to get me a lift into work with another member of staff in the mornings. Ok... even for me, with my four or five years temping experience, that's a new one!
I did feel for him though, so have agreed to stay til the end of this week... well, Thursday anyway, because of the Bank Holiday... to train my replacement! I find that slightly amusing because I've technically only been there a week, but if it gets me out of there quicker, I don't care in the least. Hmm, maybe I should have negotiated myself a significant pay rise... well, there's always next time!
In other news, I had a fantastic time on Saturday hanging out with
spintrian and
buddleia in the lovely sunshine! Hyde Park and Covent Garden for pizza. Only I foolishly left my jacket at home, froze at night, and got ill again. Doh! How I hate my recurring man flu. I was completely ded-ed on Sunday. It's better now, though, so yay for painkillers.
I am very tired now, so going to crash. I will be pleased once these early days are done with.
