I have decided that the weather is in denial. It wants to be summer... it yearns to be summer. But it can't quite bring itself to come out of the closet. Hence the random cold days, rain, and hail. It's May... embrace your inner sunshine! Let loose the warmth! It's your right to be bright!
Slumped in a grump. I have reached that tedious stage of stir crazy I always get after a week stuck at home. This week I have watched Hitch, Stage Beauty, Man on Fire, The Hunger, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, three episodes of Veronica Mars, seven episodes of Odyssey 5, and played Kingdom of Loathing.
The Hunger (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085701/)- Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie, Susan Sarandon. Vampires, love, sex, eternity. "I can't believe you've never seen this before. It's a classic of the 'modern urban gothic vampire lesbian love story' genre!" It was very good, sad and poignant. But my, the hair and clothes!
Hedwig and the Angry Inch (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0248845/)- Ok, I'm a convert. I love this film, it's flashy and trashy and touching and fun. The performances are great, and so are the songs. After watching it the first time with
spintrian, I felt an urge (stop sniggering in the back there) and rushed to try on makeup. The next night, I watched it again with
buddleia and grinned lots. I'm starting to hear the songs in my dreams.
Odyssey 5 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0287602/) - What a great sci fi show! Sadly cancelled by Showtime after one season. Those guys are dumb. The premise- 5 astronauts are the only survivors of the Earth's destruction and encounter a mysterious entity who sends them back five years into the past to find out what went wrong and stop it from happening again- is admittedly a little hokey. But the writing and characters are sharp and interesting, and there is great ongoing plot development. Starring Peter Weller (aka Robocop).
Kingdom of Loathing- (http://www3.kingdomofloathing.com/login.php) Gee, I'm such a geekboy. It's the simplest little adventure, but I'm hooked! So hooked. Wandering around, collecting items, making cocktails, awful puns, gleeful jokes, hanging around the chat channels to find 10-meat sales... perfect. All you need from a game. Seriously.
Sigh. And that's it, I'm afraid. I currently can't afford to leave the house. I can't summon up the energy to do anything about it either. And I wish
spintrian would just hurry up and move in already. Harumph.

I'm so hooked on KoL it isn't funny. I love that game, man.
