Right, ok.

I've still got my job.

But I do have a very definite feeling that this morning's upheavals are only the start, and I shouldn't get too comfortable. So it's back to the job pages for me.

Can anyone use a bright and creative individual with a pretty smile? I make great coffee.

I find the current work climate very depressing. It used to be there was a lot of stability in jobs, if you had a job then it was yours til death unless you really fucked up or got a better offer. Now you're lucky to last a couple of years in one. Soon there will be no permanant jobs at all, just a huge pool of temps in a state of panic.

I have a great epic poem somewhere inside me, that's been gathering momentum for years, all about how awful the daily office grind rat race is. In the style of Allen Ginsberg's Howl... you know, "I saw the best minds of my generations" etc etc. I do think it's terrible nowadays. But what can you do? Bills bills...

The mood is definitely right for it. You could become a famous poet with that under your belt.

There are still a few other options. A friend told me about some guy she met who managed to scam £30k with some kind of legal trickery with grants and then dropped out of sight to live free for a few years. Of course he called himself Paradox and said he was a wizard so you might not want to follow in his footsteps.
