The more observant of you might have noticed I haven't posted in a while. Apologies for this. I'm in a foul fucking mood and feel it would be cruel to share it.

Also, Impending Doom: my mother is showing up on Sunday for a visit. For a week or two. This has been giving me nightmares for weeks. Don't ask. I just have a Bad Feeling about her visit... I think there may be arguments.

Lovely weather fuck no, it ain't.

I guess it would probably be rude to stay out for her whole visit.

Maybe during her visit you can "miss your last bus home" from, I dunno, somewhere...

Family. Love 'em or hate 'em, they're always a chore. And if you've something to bitch about, do it: it's healthy. Anyone who doesn't want to read can skip.

Yes! With no chance of any transport whatsoever! For a fortnight!

It's the great social unifier...

Aye. For example, anyone who has an embarrassing, opinionated old codger of a grandfather (for example) has instantly bridged the social gulf to Wills and Harry...

We all know how tricky public transport is on the continent. That sort of thing is happening all the time.

I don't think anyone would want to bridge that social gulf... unless, of course, they were inbred public-school-(mis)educated* tosspots with a penchant for Nazi uniforms.

*I feel a disclaimer coming on.

*hangs head, shuffles feet* Uhh, it was only three years (before they kicked me out) and I found the quality of education to be quite good, really.

And in the case of the sort of people you're on about (I'm quite happily lowermiddleclassthankyouverymuch) - what gulf?

To be honest, I shouldn't have taken a pop at Phillip because he's actually one of the more tolerable (because fallible) of the Royals.

Amusingly, my public school education has come in useful precisely once thus far. I was sitting in the pub last week with a couple of mates, and one of them whipped out his journal - inscribed in the front was, uh - damn, I can't remember the exact wording but it was vaguely Latin for "If you can read this, you're well educated."

The irony is greatly appreciated.

That's brilliant!

I didn't mean to generalise about a PSE - "some of my best friends etc etc"...

I'm certainly planning on staying with *my* mother for the duration!

Ah family. I feel closer to mine the farther away I live. Thank the deity of your choice for the ~2000 miles between me and my parents. *grateful*

As for your foul mood, well I'm sorry to report that mine has just lifted so I won't be able to commiserate properly.
