Jun. 26th, 2006 12:49 pm- I have been drinking all weekend.
- An old friend from the first year at university has been to stay with me with all the catching up that entails (“So… what have you been up to for the last ten years?” I asked him at one point)
- I have watched three World Cup games, two of them in a crowded pub.
- I was befriended by two drunken old men in the pub on Sunday. One of them turned out to have strong racist tendencies, which always pisses me off (i.e. “Look at those Indians over there! What are they cheering England on for?” Um, maybe because they’re English, mate. And your head is too shiny.)
- I went to a work outing on Friday which involved burgers, booze, bowling, karaoke and getting home at midnight. My team sucked at bowling, but I did ok. I accidentally sang “I’m Too Sexy” under coercion from my Human Resources Manager. (There is a reason I don’t sing. It is a humanitarian reason. There may even be statutes in the UN on this issue, regarding the Basic Human Rights of people not to have to listen to my singing.)
- Some of the people who live with me, and one additional
buddleia, may have stripped off their clothes on Saturday night and climbed into our paddling pool (which was freezing).
- Some of them may have been completely naked.
- (But not
buddleia)
- I didn’t join them. Call me crazy, but I prefer warm water.
- We drank our house dry on Saturday night.
- I played some X-Box (including the new games that
betelbrucke got me for no reason at all, because she rocks.)
- I may have eaten at some point. Oh yes. Three times, in restaurants, while out. Which reminds me, buy groceries.
- I tried to call
gonzo21 to wish him a happy birthday but he was screening his calls. Clearly the Feds have found out about his plans for world domination.
- Sometimes I slept. It wasn’t enough.
I am broken. Sentences fail me. Words are squirmy.
Help me. Can I request another weekend please?

Date: 2006-06-27 09:34 am (UTC)Thank you for trying to call. It's odd, the phone wasn't engaged that much on saturday, yet a couple of people seem to have tried at about the times that it was, which just goes to show the gods of timing maintain their fine sense of humour.
And thank you for the present! Those are, utterly awesome. I had no idea there was a zombie apocalypse comic! How totally apt. :)
*hug*

And glad you liked! I knew you'd dig it :) Very appropriate considering recent increased zombie activity in your journal/the world at large. Yes, and not only that but it's a fairly good comic, I think.

Date: 2006-06-27 01:56 pm (UTC)I'm going to be very stressed if Rose is as doomed as she appears to be, I'm very fond of Doctor/Rose.
And yes, it's fantastic, I've read the first one, and it's outstanding. Precisely the sort of thing I might have written. (dammit!) Very nice artwork too.
Say... what are your all time favourite comics?

Date: 2006-06-28 11:08 am (UTC)Um, I'm sorry to say, I think Rose is definitely history - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/5082668.stm?ls
Yes, I like Walking Dead! I've started reading it regularly. It's like a soap opera. With zombies.
All time favourites? Hmm, let me think. I'm a big X-Men fan of course. And like spin-offs like New Mutants and Generation X. Oh, and Excalibur.
I'm currently re-reading Marvel's New Universe titles from 1987-88. Those were great, I remember.
I am mostly a big Marvel fanboy, but don't read as much as I used to! I used to like Spiderman too.
I am also a big Vertigo fan. Currently reading Fables, Lucifer, 100 Bullets, Y the Last Man.
(as well as Uncanny X-Men and Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-men)
Sandman would have to be right up there at the top of the list. And Preacher.
I should stop now, I'm scaring some people.
You?

Date: 2006-06-28 07:02 pm (UTC)And yeah, I know, Rose is toast, every episode this season has had at least 3 scenes to underline to us just how totally fucked Rose is. But still, I will miss her.
Walking Dead, yes, fantastic. Read the second one now, and it's just, wonderful. How many books of it are there?
X-Men, favourite characters?
Fables, I read a book of that I think, animal farm it was called maybe. Very good, liked it alot. Don't know how they got away with the reference to Goldilocks relationship.
Me? I read what I can grab from the library mostly. I own Transmetropolitan, of course. And a few other bits and pieces. Matt sends me things once in a while, V for Vendetta was excellent, and Planetary is a lot of fun.

Date: 2006-06-28 08:27 pm (UTC)Walking Dead: there are, I think, 5 trade paperbacks at the moment, and the comic is (thankfully) ongoing.
X-Men: Kitty Pride all the way. But I also like Logan, of course. There are probably others, but I find these conversations harder than they were when I was 13! Ah, maybe parts of my brain are dying off...
Oh, I liked Planetary too. Quite hardcore for a mainstream comic!! Very "Wild Cards"/Mature Readers Only.
